A Mature Christian Approach to Islam, Fear, and Truth In recent years, many Christians have become increasingly concerned about the rise of radical Islam, terrorism, political instability, and cultural change across the world. Books, videos, podcasts, and social media discussions often warn about “Islamization,” ideological conflict, and the future of Christianity in the West and in Africa. Some of these concerns are legitimate. Extremism is real. Religious persecution is real. Violence committed in the name of religion is real. Christians should not be naïve about the dangers of radical ideologies — whether religious, political, or secular. At the same time, followers of Jesus are called to respond differently from the world around them. The Christian response cannot be built on fear, hatred, exaggeration, or dehumanization.
